Area children and their caregivers enjoyed lots fun-filled, outdoor, nature-related activities. In celebration of June as Leave No Child Inside Month, many local organizations provided these wonderful adventures including nature hikes, star-gazing, camping and campfires, Native American song and dance, nature yoga, outdoor story hours and concerts, birding, and vegetable gardening.

These programs were run by the villages of South Barrington and Fox River Grove, Cuba Township Road District, Barrington Park District, Barrington Area Library, Lake County Forest Preserve, Volo Bog, and Citizens for Conservation. All are members of the greater Barrington and Lake Zurich area’s Leave No Child Inside initiative.

A special note: June was just the beginning! More Leave No Child Inside activities are being offered throughout the summer. To learn what children’s programs are available in your area, please visit www.funoutside.org. Leave No Child Inside is all about children growing healthy through nature-related activities and play.
